THE GIFTS
Stella the Hare
Supporters who make a donation between 20 and 49 Euros will receive a laser cut hare.
“Stella the Hare” was made in the Media Lab by Francisco and Sole using the laser cutter. The hare symbolizes adaptability and rebirth. Over the past 10 years, Habibi.Works has faced many challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, growing hostility towards people on the move, and internal changes.
Throughout these challenges, continuous efforts have been made to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and ensure the sustainability of the project. Today, the political climate is marked by the increasing criminalization of people on the move and solidarity efforts, alongside severe funding cuts affecting projects like ours. In this context, your continued support is crucial to enable us to keep working and embodying the spirit of the hare.
Winter Balm
Supporters who make a donation between 50 and 99 Euros will receive a Winter Balm
Since the very beginning of Habibi.Works’ story, hygiene items have been in high demand among the people we work with. Therefore, in 2017, just one year after opening the space, we started offering “natural cosmetics workshops”, where people could make their own soaps and creams. In 2024, 8 years after the start of Habibi.Works, we opened a free shop to distribute hygiene products.
While the free shop differs from the working areas in the makerspace, the approach is rooted in solidarity. As the system fails to provide dignified living conditions in Katsikas, the free shop attempts to create a space where essential hygiene items can be accessed with an emphasis on self care and agency. This orange and vanilla winter balm has been hand made in the creative space by Stella with nourishing butters and the warm scent of sweet almond oil and spiced orange beeswax. We hope it brings a little softness and warmth to the colder days. We have included the recipe, so you can make your own to your preferences.
Napkins Set
Supporters who make a donation between 100 Euros and more will receive the Napkins Set
Before Habibi.Works was founded 10 years ago, our organisation, Soup and Socks e.V., had already been running a community kitchen. Habibi.Works itself started as a community kitchen, and as the project evolved into a makerspace, sharing meals and bringing people from all over the world together around the table has remained a core part of everyday life.
These napkin holders were designed by Charlotte and crafted in the wood workshop. The cotton napkins were lovingly handcrafted in the sewing atelier by Massoud, Elena and Maurizio. They are reusable and made to last. To take good care of them, we recommend washing them at 40°C.
We hope this set will bring some of the warmth, community and spirit of sharing that have defined our meals over the past 10 years into your home
BOTTLE OPENER
Current and new monthly donors receive a wonderful custom Bottle Opener as an additional gift, on top of the token of gratitude they receive for their donation.
The wood workshop and bike repair workshop are among the most actively used working areas at Habibi.Works. This bottle opener was designed by Charlotte and crafted in the wood workshop. Its chain is made from an upcycled bike brake cable, giving a second life to a part that would otherwise go unused.
We are grateful for your involvement in our project. Through your support, we hope that the bike and wood workshops can continue to be vibrant spaces for creating, repurposing, learning and sharing skills. Grab your favourite carbonated beverage and raise a glass with us to 10 years of Habibi.Works!
